CLEAN MAKE UP BRUSHES

How disgusting is this? Only up until last year when I started changing my make-up habits,I didn't realise you had to actually put effort in to cleaning your make up brushes haha! Luckily, when I was younger I used to use sponges and changed them every 2 weeks or so. When moving onto brushes I just purchased a new one once I thought it needed replacing. My only confession is, I used a powder brush for sooo long without cleaning or replacing it; that when I did go to clean it- its was awful and unclean-able so was replaced the next day. I know, I know - disgusting! Blergh!

But... I've learnt my lesson :)  and now I clean my make-up brushes regularly.

These are probably my 5 most used brushes for foundation, concealer, powder, eyes shadow and eye shadow blending.
So I get myself all set up with everything I need, the brushes I'm cleaning, the cleaning product I want to use and a towel.
I know you can buy make-up brush cleaners in high street stores etc but personally I LOVE uses Johnson's Baby Shampoo. As a Mummy, I usually have some at home, I still have stocks from when he was  baby so for me its an easy go to. Leaves my brushes all soft, doesn't ruin the bristles ad just smells amazing-love the smell the most haha! Baby smell is beautiful thought isn't it?
So to get started I just pop some of the shampoo into  the palm of my hand, work the brush in circular movements into hand to create a lather and clean the brush.
(i couldn't photograph this action as only had my hands today and was using both, brush in one soap in the other :) )
Rinse under hot water until the water runs clear. It is usually better to hold in downwards to avoid water going into the metal part, but I couldn't get a proper photo haha!
Pop the clean brushes onto a towel and leave them to air dry- mine usually take around a day to dry completely.
This gives you an opportunity to give your some make-up free time an maybe give yourself a pamper with a face mask as an example.
I have exfoliated and cleansed my face today, do you do any pampering on make-up free days?

Easy Peasy! xx

A DAY WITH ME

What I thought was I'd do this post to give you a little insight to my day... it might be fun...it might not - we'll see :)

-It was an early start of 7am being woke by Alex, we usually just chill in bed for a little while, have a little chat :)
-Once up its straight onto breakfast for Alex, cereals everyday. I start my day with a cup of Tea and just chill going through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Emails etc whilst Alex is eating breakfast. Yesterday Alex had me up and down very 2 seconds to get him something, then once he was finished he wanted me to play with some of his toys and set them up.

toys, snacks, tea... my morning

-The morning was quite slow, fitted in some exercise with my fave Charlotte Crosby DVD- slwoly getting back into exercising regulry. Then just some tidying around, hoovering etc housey boring things.
-Showers done, after an almighty tantrum from Alex whilst I was trying to put my make-up on, after some cuddles, I decided Disney's Cars was a good way to distract him whilst I finished getting ready.

- A slow walk to our local shop to grab couple of bits and bobs.
- We arranged to meet with family for dinner- Alex was so excited about our bus journey it was cute listening talk about it. I'm trying to get him to walk more and bigger distances so eventually we can stop using the pushchair.

- We chose a buffet place as our choice of restaurant- yummy all you can eat.
- Alex really wanted to sit on a chair bless him, so thought I'd let him. After getting up numerous times to chase after him I had to request a high chair haha! He wasn't a happy bunny. The joys of being a mummy :) I love it all the same.
-For those of you who know me, know I love a good cocktail :) silly me took a picture after drinking some of it, but it was just so nice and refreshing.
Peach schnapps, Peach syrup, fresh plums all blended together with crushed ice, so refreshing. Could happily drink this on a beach or by a pool somewhere. Love this jars too, should invest in some.

- We had some good old chats about holidays and break away. Maybe its a plan? I hope so :)

-Abit of posing by my cousin Dana before we left.

- After getting ready for bed and whatnot, Alex was so worn out from all the running around he did in and out the restaurant he was ready for an early night.
If you haven't guessed already Disney's Cars is his favourite film at the moment, he could watch it all day everyday and is his choice of night time film.
After sitting with Alex for a while before he fell to sleep, I came downstairs to watch Britians Got Talent and just had some chill out time.

It was a lovely day :)

What did you get up to at the weekend?

I'M CONVERTED

For many many years, I've not been a big bath user, I think the last time I had a bath was when I was pregnant with Alex as helped with all the aches and pains that come with pregnancy. Otherwise, much prefer a shower!
But I've been having abit of back pain recently and thought a bath would help. So why not treat myself at the same time? So many people, from family, friends, youtubers and bloggers rave so much about LUSH products so thought I'd go and have a gander I hadn't been in a Lush store since I was around 13/14 so felt all new to me.
Just WOW all the smells, colours and displays of products and staff were just amazing! I had my hands full with other shopping bags (silly idea to go here last haha) so it was kinda of a quick visit a quick smell of some of the bath bombs and chose one.

Can you believe this is my first ever Lush purchase? So behind with the times!

I chose the one pictured above, Sakura its called. To me, this smells so spring like and flowery.  The ingredients are mimosa and jasmine oils, lemon oil and orange flower. Don't the ingredients sound so refreshing too? I love how it made my bath smell beautiful and after having a soak and some quality chill out time, I smelt amazing and my skin was really soft!

So just after this one amazing  bath, I've decided that when Alex is at nursery and have the house my myself I'm going to treat my self to a Lush bath once in a while.
Never thought I'd hear myself saying that haha!

Think its now time to go a little crazy and have a Lush product splurge haha!

Are you a Lush fan? Whats your fave? Any recommendations?

MAYBELLINE - THE NUDES

What a lovely day its been, I hope your all enjoying the sunshine :)

You have seen me rave about this eye shadow palette show much in other blog posts, I thought it was about time it had its own :) I just love it that much!

For me, its just such an easy palette to work with, so many different ways you can apply your eyeshadow. Its so easy to apply and blend together and isn't any fallout. It can be changed up in some many different ways- just whatever look your going for. Most of the eye shadows are quite shimmery which I love about it, but there is a few matte shades to mix it up too.
I've had mine for around 5 months now, and is used quite often as you can tell from the above picture haha

I think its really cool how there is a guide on the back of the palette on different ways you can apply the eye shadows, using from 2-4 different shades at once. I haven't used this guide, I just tend to go with the flow and see what works, although I'm sure I've used a couple of these combinations.
But its ever so helpful to those who are starting out or not that confident with eye shadows.
Definitely recommend it, love love love it :) will be purchasing another when it starts to run out.

Just a couple of my most recent favourite looks.
Left picture - a subtle bronze eye
Right picture - silver smokey eye

Show me your make up looks, I love seeing them

COCKTAILS AND CHINWAGS

Good Evening :)

I've missed a couple of Weekly Wonders due to not really doing much more than what I have already told you...
But this week was my holiday week and it feels like I've done so much more already.

I feel like I haven't seen my friends through one thing and another in ages so its been nice to catch up with them... although thinking about it, other than when Alex and I go swimming I haven't seen or been out with friends since February time, wow a long time!
Tuesday. I took full advantage of the time out I got, walked to the restaurant we all arranged to eat at - it was nice and peaceful, as usually I have Alex with me being a little chatterbox!
We ate at Handmade Burger Co which have lovely burgers, I'd love to try most of them, it was so difficult to decide which one to eat. We all spent alot of time being chatterboxes and just catching up on what had been going on since we all last saw each other. A couple of us went out for drinks after, I had such a lovely time. It was nice to have some time out from being mummy and doing all mummyish things. I think I need to find abit more balance in taking time out for myself, mental note taken :)

I think this is now my favourite cocktail, Pornstar Martini i think its called. Cheeky I know :) its fruity and just yummy in my opinion with a cheeky shot of prosecco to go with it!
Have you tried it? What do you think?

Didn't wear anything too dressy as know we were eating so just a casual and comfy night, something abit baggy to hide that food baby haha!
-Black Jeans, New Look
-Casual T Shirt, New Look
- Necklace, River Island - although was a gift so not 100% sure.

Wasn't it such a beautiful day today, maybe its the beginning of summer. I really hope so!
Alex and I joined my friends and there little boys for a relaxed picnic at a local park. Even with living in Nottingham for most of my life this is only the second time I've been here. Such a lovely place- definitely going back! We both had alot of fun, and it was nice seeing Alex enjoying himself running around and having playtime with the other little ones. I enjoyed just chilling, it was quite relaxing for me, as its not very often I just get to sit and chill at lunchtime. Even got to see some ducks... my favourite haha!

Its been a lovely week so far, hope you've been enjoying the sun. What you been up to?
